Food contact materials (FCM)

J.S. Hamilton Poland Laboratory provides a wide range of analytical testings using accredited methods in accordance with European directives and guidelines, national regulations regarding packaging that comes into contact with food (FCM), as well as specific client requirements.

Plastic materials intended for contact with food and cosmetic products testings:

  • Overall migration in all food simulants
  • Specific migration
    • Primary Aromatic Amines (PAAs)
    • Metals
    • Plasticizers, antioxidants, monomers and other additives according to EU 10/2011 Annex I and Swiss Regulation
    • Bisphenols and derivatives epoxy resin derivatives BADGE, BFDGE and NOGE in coated materials, plastics and adhesives
    • Mineral oils (MOSH/POSH & MOAH)
    • Oligomers
  • NIAS screening with toxicology assessment;
  • Isocyanates content and migration (laminates with adhesives, printed materials);

  • Primary Aromatic Amines (PAAs)
  • PCBs;
  • Bisphenol A, S and other bisphenols;

  • Content and specific migration of MOSH and MOAH;

  • NIAS screenings;
  • Transfer of antimicrobial constituents;
  • Determination of fastness of whitened paper and cardboard acc. to EN 648;

  • Specific migration of printing inc compounds (UV initiators and acrylates);
  • Extraction test acc. to FDA Sec. 176.170;
  • Testing according to Toy Directive (EN 71 standards) and RoHS.

In J.S. Hamilton Poland Laboratory FCM tests are also conducted on metal, alloys, glass, ceramics, textiles, rubber, silicone, cork, wood etc.

Heavy metals, PAH, phthalates, PAA, Azo dyes, SCCP, MCCP and LCCP (chlorinated paraffin short, medium and long chains), bisphenols A, S and others are tested in samples of consumer products and recycled materials.

Consultancy services:

  • Compliance assessment based on EU 10/2011, Swiss Regulation, BfR Recommendation;
  • Optimization of testing plans for compliance verification of FCMs;
  • Toxicological risk assessment, e.g. by TTC concept method;
  • Draft of DoC (Declaration of Conformity) for final FCMs;
  • Documents review, DOCs for raw materials verification.

  • Food safe (Certified Packaging & FCM);
  • Useful for recycling;
  • Biodegradable and compostable.
